Plate Manufacturers in China: Porcelain, Stoneware & Dinnerware Suppliers

China gives plate buyers a wide choice of both material and price position. FirmaPanel currently lists 112 approved products in the Plates category across 47 Chinese supplier profiles, with real depth in porcelain dinner sets, stoneware, reactive glazes, decorated tableware, hotel porcelain and glass plates.

The useful part of that depth is not simply having more factories to contact. It lets a buyer decide whether the range should be clean white hospitality ware, colourful everyday tableware, a coordinated retail dinner set or something more decorative before asking for prices.

Chinese plate suppliers worth comparing

Some suppliers focus on complete porcelain dinner sets, while others are stronger in reactive-glaze stoneware, hotel tableware or glass. Start with the range you want to build, then compare suppliers that can support enough matching pieces to make that range commercially useful.

What buyers can actually source

The live inventory includes 16-, 20-, 31-, 47-, 49- and 60-piece dinner sets, individual plates, reactive-glaze stoneware, porcelain collections, hotel lines and glass tableware. That gives buyers room to source either a compact retail set or a much broader tabletop program.

Before contacting suppliers, define the core pieces first. A request for “27 cm dinner plate, 20 cm side plate, pasta bowl and cereal bowl in the same reactive glaze” is far easier to quote than “send your latest dinnerware.” It also tells you quickly whether a supplier can support the whole collection rather than one attractive plate.

Set composition should follow how the customer buys

A 16-piece set can work well for a small household or entry retail price. Larger sets make sense when the buyer wants more place settings or serving pieces, but they also raise the ticket price, carton weight and breakage exposure.

Ask exactly which pieces make up the quoted set. “20 pieces” means very little until you know how many dinner plates, side plates, bowls and mugs are inside. If the same design is available both as sets and as loose pieces, that gives retailers a useful way to sell replacements or add-ons later.

For buyers already building a wider drinkware range in China, Mug Manufacturers in China: Ceramic, Porcelain & Glass Mug Suppliers can help coordinate mugs and cups with the dinnerware instead of treating them as a separate visual story.

Reactive glaze needs an agreed level of variation

Reactive-glaze stoneware is attractive partly because pieces do not look completely identical. That variation can be a strength in retail, but the buyer and supplier still need to agree on what is acceptable.

Approve samples that show the expected colour range, edge effect and surface appearance. If the supplier considers pinholes, speckling or colour shifts normal for the glaze, understand that before production. A customer may enjoy natural-looking variation; they will not enjoy receiving pieces that look like they came from different collections.

Decoration method affects both price and repeatability

Chinese dinnerware suppliers offer pad printing, decals, hand painting, coloured glazes, embossed surfaces and metallic details. Each route creates a different balance between cost, visual impact and production consistency.

For a high-volume retail program, repeatable colour and registration may matter more than a handcrafted effect. For a smaller design-led collection, controlled variation may be acceptable. Ask which decoration is already standard for the factory and which requires extra tooling, screens or minimum quantities.

If metallic rims or decorative finishes are involved, ask for the recommended care instructions before making dishwasher or microwave claims.

Hospitality buyers should test stacking before ordering thousands

A restaurant plate has to survive more than the dining table. It is stacked, carried, washed and handled many times every day. Ask for plate weight, rim profile, foot design and stack height, then test samples in the way staff will actually use them.

A plate that nests badly can make storage awkward. A very wide rim can reduce usable food area. A heavy plate may feel substantial but become tiring when several are carried together. These are small details on a specification sheet and large details in a busy restaurant.

Packaging can erase a cheap factory price

Plates are dense and breakable, so carton design matters. Ask for units per inner carton, units per master carton, gross weight and carton dimensions. Also ask what separates the plates and how the carton has been designed to manage impact during international transport.

The cheapest unit price is not automatically the best landed cost if breakage is higher or the carton wastes space. For ecommerce, the retail box may also need additional parcel protection, while a hospitality buyer may prefer simpler bulk packing.

Request both the product price and the final packed dimensions before choosing between suppliers.

Private label is easiest when you start from an existing shape

A buyer does not need a new plate mould to create a distinctive range. Existing shapes can often be changed with glaze colour, decal, rim treatment, backstamp and retail packaging.

Ask which elements can be customized at the standard MOQ and which have separate minimums. Printed boxes, custom decals and special colours may each have different production thresholds, so keep those quantities separate in the quotation.

Plan plates as part of the whole table

Buyers building a broader assortment can use Wholesale Tableware Suppliers: Source Cutlery, Plates, Bowls and Drinkware to connect plates with bowls, cutlery and drinkware. A coordinated table is easier to merchandise than a collection where every category sits at a different price point and design language.

China also has depth in decorative ceramic and glass home products. If the same retail program extends beyond tableware, Vase Manufacturers in China: Wholesale with Glass and Ceramic Vase Suppliers provides a separate view of Chinese vase suppliers.

Send suppliers a brief that makes comparison easy

State the material, plate sizes, required pieces, quantity per design, decoration or glaze direction, target customer, packaging preference and destination country. Add dishwasher, microwave, hospitality, private-label or replacement-piece requirements where they matter.

Then send the same requirement through Post RFQ. When each supplier quotes the same set composition and packaging expectation, differences in MOQ, finish, carton efficiency and landed cost become much easier to judge.
