Founded in 1907, Tsuboe has been dedicated to the art of metalworking for more than 110 years in Tsubame-Sanjo, one of Japan's most renowned artisan regions. Over four generations, we have refined our craftsmanship and established ourselves as a specialist manufacturer of precision metal tools. Our products are created under the direction of Shinji Kasahara, the fourth-generation president and a certified Niigata Ken'ō Meister—a title awarded to only a select few among the thousands of skilled craftspeople active in the Tsubame and Sanjo area. Behind every Tsuboe product lies the spirit and dedication of artisans who have passed down their skills and pride through generations. Tsuboe has produced a wide range of graters—household, commercial, and professional models used by chefs worldwide. By combining traditional techniques with modern innovation, we have created completely new forms of graters that embody both heritage and progress. We place uncompromising focus not only on the quality of our products but also on their branding and packaging design. This commitment to excellence has led to international recognition—our products have been featured at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and received the WorldStar Global Packaging Awards 2025 – Marketing: Special Award Silver. Today, we continue to expand our expertise in metal craftsmanship, applying our refined techniques to new creations such as metal chopsticks and chopstick rests.
