STORY We are heritage adventurers — explorers of our shared visual past. At The Dybdahl Co., we rediscover long-forgotten treasures from rare books, archives, and museum collections, and reimagine them for the modern world. Founded in 2013 by Henrik Dybdahl — collector, visual artist, and Master of Library and Information Science — the studio has since become a creative bridge between centuries. Our work revives the beauty and curiosity of historical imagery and transforms it into contemporary design. From 18th-century botanicals to deep-sea creatures and surreal curiosities, we invite you to see the world anew — where art, science, and storytelling intertwine. DESIGN In our multidisciplinary design studio outside Copenhagen, old meets new. We digitize, restore, and reinterpret original illustrations — sometimes recomposing, sometimes remixing — always with respect for their origin and a touch of Scandinavian simplicity . Our aesthetic blends the familiar and the extraordinary: timeless yet contemporary, classic yet bold. Even when inspired by tropical jungles or distant seas, our collections carry a distinctly Nordic sensibility — calm, elegant, and filled with a sense of wonder. PRODUCTION & MATERIALS Every print is designed and produced in-house at our rural Danish studio. We use premium-quality papers or canvas and Japanese archival inks to ensure long life and vivid colour. Each piece is printed to order and hand-trimmed with care — craftsmanship and sustainability are at the heart of our process. PROJECTS & CONTRACTS We collaborate with clients across the world — from hotels, restaurants, offices, and fashion boutiques to healthcare environments, private homes, and film productions. Custom sizes, curated selections, and tailored designs are available for project customers. COLLABORATIONS We welcome collaborations with like-minded brands who share our passion for quality and storytelling.
