Profile
Thanapara Swallows Development Society
In the small riverside village of Thanapara in north-west part of Bangladesh, during liberation war in 1971 left the community devastated, its women widowed, families displaced, and livelihoods shattered, a group of determined local women came together with one purpose to rebuild life with dignity, skill, and solidarity . From that spirit of resilience, Thanapara Swallows Development Society was born in 1972. Thanapara Swallows aim to make beautiful textiles that are environmentally friendly, made under fair circumstances, of high quality and beautifully finished. Every product crafted by Thanapara carries more than skill, it carries a story of courage and transformation . The intricate hand-embroidery, the traditional weaving, the natural dyes and careful stitching all reflect the artistry passed from mother to daughter, artisan to apprentice. These are not just textiles; they are expressions of identity, culture, and hope. We have a complete range of home textiles, kitchen textiles and fashion wear including cushion covers, table linen, quilting bedspreads, throws, tote bags, shopper bags, women's wear, children wear, Christmas gift, towel, wall decoration items etc. Next to developing our own designs we are very experienced in making your own ideas into products. We also welcome customers to create their own design products and supply them from fabric to finish products as per their designs. At its heart, Thanapara Swallows believes in fair wages, equal opportunity, and sustainable development . The organization reinvests its earnings into education programs, women's empowerment initiatives, fair labor practices, and community development ensuring that every purchase directly improves lives in the village. Today, Thanapara stands as a model of ethical production and rural innovation. Its artisans mostly women, are financially independent, respected within their families, and connected to global markets. Children attend school. Families live with dignity.
