Artists are given free rein to express their personal creativity, hand-carving and hand painting each design and insuring that no two sculptures are ever created exactly alike. A vehicle for expression which knows no limits made just for you… HANDMADE PROCESS POURING OF THE MOLD Once a Master Design is approved, a mold is made and liquid ceramic is poured into thi s mold. When semi-dry the figurine's form is removed from the mold; it is quite smooth and must be hand-carved before the moist ceramic hardens and becomes difficult to add texture, detail and personality CARVING Each figurine is carved by hand; no two pieces are ever carved exactly the same. When the carving is completely finished the figurine is ready for its first kiln firing PAINTING The figurines are hand-painted with a colorful variety of ceramic slips and bright enamel glazes, then accented with platinum and 24 karat gold. KILN FIRING PROCESS When the hand-painting is completed each figurine once again needs to be fired in the kiln. Colors fire at different temperature settings so many firings are required. Some designs may be fired up to five or six times to achieve the desired result. APPLICATION OF PRECIOUS METALS The application of 24 karat gold and platinum mark the final step in the design of a De Rosa figurine. These precious metals are used not only to accent the personality of the figurines, but to transform the Collection into the brightly colored jewels in the world of hand-crafted ceramic design.
