ACAPULCO DESIGN PHILOSOPHY ACAPULCO DESIGN presents Mexican design and handcrafted artistry made in the region, in its unbroken vitality. In addition to the legendary lounge chair Acapulco Chair from the 1950s, managing director Benjamin Caja expanded the range with new models that reinterpret the original design in a contemporary way: a rocking cantilever chair and a dining chair, designed by the design studio HANSANDFRANZ, are complemented in March 2021 by a dining table designed by product designer Olivia Herms. In summer 2022, its “little brother,” The Low Table, follows. These take up the Acapulco Chair’s stylistic elements subtly: in their intricate geometry, they complete the Acapulco seating group as a symbol of convivial get-togethers and Mexican zest for life. Completely new to the range are the two new Hanging Chair variants. For the 2015-founded company, authenticity, quality, and sustainable production are particularly important: That is why managing director Benjamin Caja is involved in all production steps in Mexico City and ensures fair terms for all participating manufacturers, workers, and suppliers. ACAPULCO DESIGN brings the popular, hand-crafted “Acapulco Chair” from Mexico to Germany in ever-new variations. ACAPULCO DESIGN distributes the original form of the “Acapulco Chair”. ORIGINAL ACAPULCO CHAIR AND THE TOPIC OF SUSTAINABILITY Our Acapulco Chair stands for fair trade and social responsibility. Our employees in Mexico earn not only the minimum wage, but also a significantly higher salary than the average. At the same time, occupational safety regulations are strictly followed, such as minimum age and benefits. We advocate for equal pay by ensuring that women and men receive the same pay. Regular visits and ongoing communication with the factory in Mexico ensure a transparent collaboration. In addition, we contribute to environmental protection by using recycled plastic for large portions of our models, and by powering the factory with solar energy. We place great value on sustainability and longevity through the use of high-quality materials and the careful production of our original Acapulco Chairs
