Founded in 1911 by Valentin Tramontina, Tramontina started as a small iron mill in southern Brazil in the town of Carlos Barbosa. Over one hundred years later, the company has one of the largest industrial parks in Brazil with 8 de-centralized units, in addition to manufacturing units in India and Mexico. Across these 9 factories, the company currently manufactures over 22,000 items aimed in the most varied segments – cookware, tableware, knives, barbecue grill accessories, stainless steel utensils, tools for agriculture, gardening, and civil construction, highly specialized hand tools, electric hardware, and wooden and plastic furniture. With this wide mix of products, Tramontina has a strong presence in Brazil, with 5 Distribution Centers that cater to the entire Brazilian market, ensuring speedy deliveries and business deals in the most strategic regions of the country. International Presence Tramontina increasingly establishes itself as one of the great Brazilian brands abroad. Its products have won over the most diverse peoples around the world and reach over 120 countries. In total, there are over 20 international units in 6 continents – in South Africa, Germany, Argentina, Australia, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Ecuador, France, United Arab Emirates, United States, United Kingdom, Mexico, Latvia, Panama, Peru, Spain, Singapore, Tunisia and Uruguay. Environmental and Social Responsibility Environmental and social responsibility are part of Tramontina's mainstay. Each step the company takes reconciles productivity with respect for the environment, helping to strengthen a culture for the preservation of the planet's natural heritage. Amongst many sustainable initiatives, Tramontina has an Environmental Committee, permanent preservation areas, preserved native woods, biomass thermal power plants, systems to reuse water, equipment to control the release of gases into the atmosphere, landfills for the deposit of solid waste, and many others. All this care for nature has resulted in achievements such as the worldwide-respected FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) seal, which enables the company to apply its green stamp to many of its products, and the ISO 14001 certificate, which affirms the quality of Tramontina's Environmental Management System.
