Hindbag

Founded in 2015, Hindbag is an ethical and ecologically responsible French brand of bags and accessories committed to the emancipation of women in India. We offer timeless, accessible and trendy fashion from 'slow' and solidarity-based production, designed to be worn for as long as possible. The brand collaborates with Swami Sivananda Memorial Institute (SSMI), an Indian NGO that works to emancipate women from a disadvantaged district of Delhi. These women make our products in exchange for a fair wage that recognises their skills. They benefit from ongoing training and a place at school for their children. Women Empowerment is a subject of crucial importance in India. In a country marked by a very strong patriarchal tradition, the security and development of the status of women is a daily challenge. In addition to its social commitment, Hindbag uses 100% eco-responsible materials. Cotton, jute, denim and corduroy are all organic and GOTS-labelled, while wool and false furs are recycled and GRS-labelled (Global Recycled Standard). Our range of cotton materials comes in 19 shades, all available on the majority of our timeless designs. Each colour has a matching block print lining. Block printing is a traditional Indian technique in which patterns are carved from blocks of wood, coated with dye and then pressed by hand onto the fabric. Each colour requires a separate block, requiring precision and expertise. This method creates textiles with rich, unique patterns, and reflects India's rich cultural heritage.
