Oobje is a part of a 4-generation family business, nearly a century old, within the steel-processing industry in Turkey. The company currently has around 400 members. Along with those who merge under the roofs of its offices and workshops, the brand also works in collaboration with designers from all over the world, as an attempt to make proposals whose validity are not fixed in a certain geography. Thus, merging the properties of the materials that are used, with a significant experience in craftmanship, the brand proposes objects -- "oobjes" -- that are ought to be a part of the contemporary domestic life. Our "ethos", is to align ourselves within the contemporary design discourse, featuring products that attempts to be categorised within the definition of good design. Perhaps this is a principle that is easier said than done. Some principles we follow in the attempt at reaching this quality are; mindful usage of the materials, respect to each individual that takes part in the making and last but not least, a significant level of attention that is paid to the design process which aims to produce collections of objects that establish a background to the domestic life. After all; no object can seek its validity as a single entity, rather it needs to be in relation to other objects and most importantly, with people. Each design is an attempt at providing a background to the everyday life.
