Design Story: From Waste to a Fluted Icon

Canelé stool begins with a simple question: can waste feel like design?

Inspired by the canelé pastry of Bordeaux, which was born from turning leftover egg yolks into a small cultural icon, we follow the same spirit of reuse.
We transform discarded banners and recycled PET into a dense, mono-material form with a distinctive fluted silhouette that enhances strength, stability, and tactile comfort.

A brand yellow color and stitch mark provenance, stacking orientation, and the path back to the loop.
Light, stackable, recyclable, and unexpectedly playful, Canelé transforms overlooked materials into everyday comfort.

Production Process

  • PET bottles & polyester fabric→Collection & sorting with people with disabilities→Chemical & mechanical recycling→R-felt furniture manufacturing

Made from 100% polyester—of which over 90% is recycled PET—we create durable mono-material products shaped for longevity and circular return.
