Wood Works Collection
An important part of cooking is in the preparation. And, of course, how you finally put your creations on the table. That is why our Wood Works should not be missing in your kitchen.
With Skottsberg's serving boards you are guaranteed to put something tasty on the table: some saltines, a few pieces of cheese and some grapes. This board has a history: it is made of wood from the longan tree. Once that tree no longer produces fruit, it is usually sawn into firewood. We think that's a shame, so we make them into rock-solid planks. We have them in different sizes and, importantly, no two boards are identical. Also nice: we have milled handles into them on both sides, so you can lug the serving board all over the house with ease.
The cutting board is made of European Beechwood. That's nice, because this type of wood has the perfect hardness to enjoy cutting on without your knife becoming blunt. By the way, did you know that a wooden cutting board is much more hygienic than a plastic one? This is because bacteria in the wood are killed by the natural tannin in the wood. And European Beechwood contains another extreme amount of this bactericidal substance. We made this board by gluing head-sawn pieces of wood together. Doesn't mean anything to you? Never mind, it mainly means that your board has a self-healing ability: getting scratches in your board becomes very difficult this way.
One side of the board has a juice gutter with reservoir, handy if you make a mess. The other side is smooth, which you use for cutting bread, for example, which you then serve on our serving board. The circle is complete. The cutting board also has milled-in handles, so you can easily take your board anywhere. It is important to know that the wood can work a bit, so don't be alarmed if your cutting board warps, shrinks and expands a bit. And above all, do not put it in the dishwasher. Wood doesn't like that.
Because we have coated our boards with two layers of food-safe tung oil, they are water-repellent and won't get scratched. And they are rock solid, so if used correctly, they will last a lifetime.
