Microplane Premium Classic Zester Grater

30 years of the Microplane Zester Grater:
An icon celebrates its birthday
In 1994, something revolutionary happened in a kitchen in Toronto, Canada, that would change the world of cooking forever. Frustrated with the grating results of her old kitchen grater, a housewife picked up her husband's Microplane wooden grater and unexpectedly discovered the perfect way to grate food. This moment marked the birth of Microplane kitchen graters. The durable, photo-etched and razor-sharp stainless steel blades - made in the USA - which had previously only been used to grate wood, now made it possible to grate various foods precisely and effortlessly without tearing or crushing them. This not only preserved the natural aroma, but also enhanced the taste. Thus began a success story that continues to this day.

In the 30 years that followed, the Premium Classic Zester grater from Microplane, with its characteristic long, narrow handle and power blade, became the epitome of perfect grating. Famous TV chefs such as Martha Stewart and Julia Child used the grater in their cooking shows, and when the New York Times reported on this unusual story, the Zester grater was celebrated by amateur and professional chefs worldwide. Today, this innovation is one of the "must-haves" in the kitchen and is the favorite tool of many chefs worldwide.
